I’m fighting with my hair and the Cali heat right now *fans self*, so this past weekend I got some braids installed in my head. Everyone always asks every time I get braids, “Girl, WHYEEE do you get braids when you have ALL that hair?!!” Simple. Because I have a lot of hair LOL! It’s a blessing and curse. Sometimes I just don’t feel like dealing with it, so the easiest thing to do is throw some braids in it. Most of the time it’s in a messy bun or in some twists. Anyway, this is just one of many protective styles you can rock while transitioning, if you’ve done a big chop, or you just need a break hunty! The hair gods are not always on our sides, so praise the LORD for all the braiders out there that can answer our prayers!
What is your go to protective style?
what kind of weave hair did you use
Hi Cherry,
I used the Black N Gold brand of hair. Hope this helps!
Hi Kim! my name is Emani, an i am half-white and half-black so i have ALOT of hair but i am getting box braids in my head. i like the way your braids are in this photo and i was just wondering how long did it take and could you give me some advice on taking care of them?
Hi Emani,
Thanks for stopping by! It took a very long time for these braids. The lady that braids mine is a very fast braider and it took her about 7 hours. I have really long hair; past my bra strap. I’ve gotten them installed by someone different and it’s taken as long as 12 hours lol. I would recommend keeping them moisturized using a braid spray and keeping your scalp clean by washing your scalp only once every two weeks. Just make sure they aren’t too tight so they can cause breakage. I hope this helps!
