For example, you ever wonder why certain colors make you feel excited or calm? Like the color RED! (see? I’m already excited) There is NO mistake why Target is FULL of red lol! Target is the devil, but that’s a post for another day. A soft blue on the other hand, makes you think of calmness and serenity.
There is a method to the color madness, trust me. Certain colors aren’t used in a design just because they look pretty; there is an underlying reason. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to teach you color theory in one blog post.
If your blog is stuck in a rut, think about adding a pop of color. You can do that (if you’re just a little HTML savvy) by changing the color of the words you place in bold, change your link colors or change the background color of your blog. You could even get a cool banner to add to the top of your blog. Whatever you decide, give your viewers something aesthetically pleasing to look at. Think about your audience when choosing your color palette and then go for it!
Need some inspiration for a color palette? Check out http://www.colourlovers.com/palettes and explore over a MILLION color palettes. I promise you’ll spend time there ALL day. LOL!
Here are two of my favorite color palettes.
What things do you do to add a little flavor to your blog? Are you afraid of color? Do you understand how color palettes work? If you need additional assistance, I offer affordable consultations if you’re ready to take your blog to the next level.
You’re welcome.
those colors are beautiful, my blog is so bland, i’ve tried to spice it up with a little bit of mint, purple, and grey but i still thnk its boring!
Hi Jojo,
First, you are too cute! I took a look at your blog and it is clean and well organized. I would start by making your top navigation in a different color. Add some complementary colors in that area. Also try adding some color to the dates above each post. On the right sidebar, make the heading name of each section a color. Lastly, the background behind the social media comment and post info at the bottom part of each post can be changed and the background color of your blog can be changed. Make those small adjustments and see how much of a difference it makes. I think that can be a great start! What’s good about is you can always change it if you don’t like it. The options are endless. Let me know if you update and I’ll take a look!
xoxo Kim

My favorite color is purple, but it just doesn’t translate well on screen for some reason. (for me) I love the cute color scheme though.
