Before social media, people would just have a logo and something tangible to brand themselves. Packaging, business cards, etc. In 2012, you also need a web presence and that includes Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, Google +, and your blog. If I forgot one of them please let me know, there are so many, LORD! LOL! Anyway, in order for people to follow you all around the internets, your brand needs to be easily recognizable. The easiest way for people to recognize your brand is to have some consistency. Consistency is key in branding.
Is your brand consistent every where your business is represented? Above, is just part of my ongoing branding efforts. I just finished my Twitter Background. Now most people use an app from their phones to access Twitter, but that still doesn’t mean you should neglect your Twitter page.

If you don’t have a graphic software to create a Twitter background, have your logo (if you have one) present and the color scheme of your business show throughout your Twitter page. That will let your audience know it’s YOU they’ve found on Twitter. Have your tagline, or some discerning text letting your audience know it’s YOU. The last thing you want to do is confuse your audience.[/note]
My branding is still a work in progress. What does this consistency do? It allows your audience to become familiar with your brand and it’s easily recognizable.
Do you have a twitter background? What extra steps have you taken to further brand yourself?

Love this post. I am a little scattered at the moment, but my logo was recently completed and now I am working on other branding type things. I initially wanted to pay for a complete blog redesign but I can’t part that kind of money at the moment ($1000-$1200). I found this ubber pretty one last night and may spring for it. What do you think my design twin? I plan to tweek the font and colors. I love this tab pinstripe background you got going on btw!
if I order by 9/7 i can get $25 off so everything for $84
I think you should TOTALLY take the advantage of this! As as you tweak so that it looks original then it looks absolutely fabulous! Once you do get a little more money to invest, you can go all out. For now, that would be an awesome alternative!
