See that up there? I made it. I made it to the first page on Google. This is a big deal. Remember my post about getting my bounce rate down?!! This all adds up. I’m a small time graphic designer, just trying to make things pretty and do this full-time. This is why I blog y’all. It helps your ranking in Google. This why I encourage all of the business owners and bloggers I design for to blog. I don’t just want your money (for shoes lol), I want you to see a return on your investment. I want you to see that your new beautifully designed website or blog can bring you in some new clientele or readers. That’s my goal. To help your brand GROW.
Let’s be honest. The economy sucks, yet with all this girl woman power, we’re all able to make it somehow with all of our hustles + passions turned into thriving businesses. We’re doing what we love, with our profitable businesses. *insert cartwheel* If I seem silly, giddy and excited…well it’s because I am! Gone are the days that you had to sit in an office from 9-5 waiting for the time to pass to get out of that stank cubicle. Now we can sit at Starbucks, on the beach or in Paris on vacation…working, doing what we love! My full-time job was outsourced to folks in India! You know what I did instead of look for another job? I created my OWN opportunity. We are all able to create our own opportunities.
I want to share some of this knowledge with you. I did this all with my little blog and business I set up on August 10, 2012. 6 months ago I didn’t blog. 6 months ago, I freelanced but didn’t have a viable business (there is actually a difference but that’s a blog post for another day). Now, I’m on the first page of Google. Want to see how I was able to achieve this? Hit the contact form folks, and I’ll share a few pointers with you.
How has blogging helped you grow your readership? Are you interested in getting on the first page of Google? Let me know in the comments!
Awesome Kim!! That is a BIG deal indeed. I’d love some pointers too 🙂
Wow, that is a big deal! Congrats! As a fellow business owner, I am aspiring to get to the first page of Google in my geographical area too. I could definitely update my design business blog more, but something always seems to come up to make me put it on the back burner. *sigh* After seeing your great results, I am going to put a lot more time into blogging and my search engine rankings. You’ve definitely inspired me!
And AMEN to creating your own opportunity! I quit my full-time job in September because it was making me absolutely miserable. Plus, I wasn’t using any of my talents or passions. I decided to step out on faith and give entrepreneurship a try. It has it’s ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade running my own business for anything.
I wish you much continued success! And you do beautiful work, by the way!
Congrats Kim! Soooo proud of you!
So happy for you Kim! I literally just got off the phone with an SEO/web marketing company that promised they can get me on the first page of Google. Of course it’s super expensive, and I just can’t fork over that money right now. I know it can be done if you just put the time and effort into it. Can you please send me any tips that you may have? Thanks!
I know exactly how you feel (felt), Kim! I’ve made the first page a few times myself and it was great. Now, I’m working on doing what you’ve done: getting my business to rank on the first page. This post is old, but it was shared on my birthday lol so I’m feeling all “this happened for a reason” right about now. Lol. Congrats. PS: love your blog. Showing SITS tribe + blm love.
Old posts are still helpful so if it helped you…on you’re Birthday, it did the job! LOL! It’s HARD staying on the first page of Google though. I mean you have to be updating content ALL the time. I guess that makes it all the more important to keep the blog updated! Thanks so much for stopping by! I am looking forward to connecting with you 🙂
