Raise your hand if you’re a product junkie *raises hand* I had the pleasure of reviewing the DevaCurl Buildup Buster Micellar Water Cleansing Serum and because I’m a product junkie, I also picked up a few products from Mielle Organics I’ve been dying to try out. If you’re on the market for some new wash day essentials, then keep reading.
DevaCurl Buildup Buster Review
I love the fact that I’m down with Influenster I get to try some amazing products, in exchange for my honest review. I was recently sent the DevaCurl Build Up Buster, to try on my kinky curl natural hair. This product retails for $28 and claims to “attract dirt like a magnet to gently remove buildup from the hair and scalp. Unlike traditional clarifying shampoos that contain harsh ingredients, this powerful cleanser won’t strip the hair. Plus, it contains abyssinian seed oil and jojoba to deliver moisture, shine and head-turning bounce. If your hair has lost its mojo due to buildup from products, hard water, or environmental stressors, this rejuvenating cleansing serum will bring all curl types back to life!”
So did it bring my curls back to life or nah?
Hell yes it did! I usually use an apple cider vinegar rinse, to give my curls + scalp a good cleansing and get rid of product build up. The Buildup Buster made my hair super manageable and squeaky clean, without stripping it. My hair felt soft and hydrated and my curls were ready for a deep condition! I had never tried Deva Curl products but I’ve always heard great things.
So, after trying The Deva Curl Build Buster, my hair was:
- Soft
- Manageable
- Bouncy
- Clean
- Hydrated
- Voluminous
I followed up with a good Deep Condition and I used…
Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner
This conditioner infuses hair with protein and moisture to restore dry and damaged hair. Babassu Oil is derived from an Amazonian palm fruit that is high in sterols and tocopherols to improve hair and scalp health. This product is enriched with fatty acids and natural oils that help reduce frizz and flyaways. This deep penetrating conditioner is made with complex amino acids from wheat, soy and other natural ingredients that help restore moisture to damaged and dry hair
So, after trying Mielle Oragnics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner, my hair was:
- Soft
- Manageable
- Bouncy
- Moisturized
- Hydrated
- Stronger
Y’all have NO idea how much I love this deep conditioner. It has amazing slip, which made my hair easy to detangle. It was so easy to detangle, I didn’t even have to use a comb; I was able to just use my fingers. This conditioner was sent straight from the heavens. I moisturized my hair with my favorite moisturizer from Bask & Bloom and sealed in all the juices with the Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil. I wanted to slap somebody after I put this in my hair. The Mint Almond Oil helps reduce breakage, excessive shedding and dry scalp. Almond oil is a carrier protein that binds to each strand to seal and lock in moisture. I don’t think my hair has ever felt so hydrated, shiny and healthy looking.

I forgot to take a selfie the day I used these products, so yes, I took a screen shot of my video. Judge me.
I’ve been using all of these products for the last couple of weeks and I must say that they all are true to their claims. My hair has never looked more amazing and my hair doesn’t break or shed as much. I’ve been deep conditioning once a week and I use the DevaCurl Buildup Buster once a week when I’m rocking a Wash N’ Go, because of all of the products I use in my hair. This is my new wash day regimen, until I get the itch to try something else new.
